The 'casale' was built towards the end of the19th century.It used to be the home for the master of the vineyards and olive trees of the farm 'Villa Sant'Anna' .
The 'casale' has been totally renovated and restored at the end of the 80's maintaining the original structure like the wonderful arch in the living room, the antique wooden beams, the tiles on the roof and the facade.
The front garden is surrounded by an ancient wall, to provide privacy when relaxing on the deck or dining 'al fresco' under the shade of the bower.
From the kitchen through a door you get into the backyard, a cosy and fresh place where you can enjoy a barbecue and stay cool during hot summer time.
Finally, behind the 'casale' you will reach a 2.000 square meters totally fenced wild garden with olive and cork trees.
Inside:
ground floor: you enter in the living area with two sofas and behind the ancient arch you get in the dining/kitchen area with an extendable table that can sit 8 people. On the left there is a twin bed bedroom with enclosed bathroom.
first floor: the wooden staircase leads to a room that gives access to the four bed bedroom, ideal for kids, to the kids bathroom and to the master bedroom with enclosed bathroom. (see pictures of the plans of the house).
WHY BAGNAIA ON ELBA ISLAND?:
The 'casale' i Galli is located inside the 'Villa Sant'Anna' compound, a former vines and olives farm in a 350 hectares property. Old rural buildings inside the compound have been renovated maintaining the original features like original wooden beams, cotto floors and tiled roofs.
Nature is unspoiled and the location is very quiet.
The compound is located just behind the small village of Bagnaia, on the seaside, where you find groceries restaurants and pubs.
In Bagnaia you have access to the beach.
There is a very well known sailing school and a boat rental.
From Bagnaia to our house is a short drive or a nice flat walk of 10 minutes.
The main town of Elba, Portoferraio, is 11 km far (10-15 minutes by car).
Portoferraio is the main harbor of the island, where you will arrive with the ferry boat from Piombino in the mainland.
Portoferraio has Hospital, banks, shopping and wonderful architecture. The ancient harbor dates back to the Medici's in the 15th century.
You can choose to relax in the garden, go for a swim, rent a boat, go for a walk in the woods around our house or go and visit the attractive village of Porto Azzurro, Capoliveri, Marina di Campo, Marciana.
There are wonderful tracks for hiking and biking: the highest mountain (Monte Capanne) is nearly 1.000 meters high: in a clear day from the top (you can get to the top by cableway!) you will have a spectacular view on the islands of the archipelago and Corsica.
Wether you want to rest or to sport, Elba island will offer you both.
