Positive: I absolutely loved the aesthetics of this beautiful apartment, which is wholly to my taste, with parquet floors, arches, and high ceilings, beautiful pops of mediterranean blue in the déco and clever bits of space-saving furniture. The cleanliness was really top-notch. The apartment was full of personal touches (and nice liquid soap dispensers, shower gel etc), which added to our feeling that it would have been lovely to at least know the host's name while we were staying there! The utensils for cooking and eating were top quality. It was great to have oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and tea provided. The place was very quiet (apart from bin collection out the front in the street at midnight, but that only affected anyone sitting on the balcony at that time). The front balcony was lovely to sit out on, and to see woods in the distance and plants on neighbour's properties. There are lots of supermarkets within walking distance and a bakery too (not sure if it's open on Sundays, as not many are in France, and this kind of detail would be good to have in a welcome pack). I really loved my stay here. It is within about 8 minutes walk of the main station (Nice Ville) and maybe 12 minutes walk down to the sea. I don't know what rating Booking.com will allocate to this review but I meant to give it an 8.5 or so overall, less than 9 because of the communication issues.

Negative: I would have given this really lovely apartment a 9 or even a 10 were it not for a few things, mainly the difficulty of collecting keys on arrival. and of phoning. The Booking.com system gives a phone number for the host but does not specify that it only works with WhatsApp, which I do not use (data mining concerns). It would be good to specify that only WA or the Booking.com system can be used. This was not ideal, as my mobile Internet was not working well in France and I do not have WA. My husband had WA, but his battery died just as we got to the front door. It took us 15 minutes to get into the apartment as the person who was sent to meet us was standing in the foyer behind a locked door, and did not seem to have our name/details and had hesitant French. He stood there for I0 mins before coming out! I do not blame him but he needs more training, He showed us messages in Russian. We thought we would be meeting the host (whose name we were not given) . We would have preferred a more personal approach. Also good would have been a message from the host before departure, even by WA, as our battery was recharged by then. We could have been asked how things were going along the way. In the apartment itself, a welcome booklet would have been nice, with what to do in the area, and a few things about the apartment. I did appreciate the Guide du routard for Nice left in a basket but it was from 2004. I also could not see any instructions for recycling. I went out into the surrounding streets to look for somewhere to do this, but without success. On a few other points (less important for us but might help someone else), it would be good to have instructions for the rather complicated oven, there should be soap in the toilet and a bolt for the toilet and showerroom door. The mattress in the smaller room was quite hard. However we had a wonderful time and would definitely come back, now that we know what to do and how to work things in the apartment! I loved it.
