Summary: Overall our stay at Medewi Bay Retreat was wonderful. Since this was our first trip to Bali, we didn’t have a lot of experience with the different areas of the island, and didn’t realize how remote this area was. We knew Medewi was a very popular surf destination and nearby to Negara, but other than that it is a far more rural/remote area than Kuta, Changgu or Ubud. Our best suggestion when booking any place in this area is making sure you are able to drive/rent a scooter in this area because using the Grab/Gojek(app) is next to impossible in this location. And walking along the main road is very dangerous. Medewi Bay Retreat was very accommodating because of our lack of transportation, the staff are so friendly and wonderful, we ended up making so many friends by the end of our stay! If you are looking for a quiet, all-inclusive experience in a more rural and traditional area of Bali, Medewi Bay Retreat is a great choice.
