Charming old farmhouse in a private 15-hectare estate with fishing lake and swimming pool, set in a deep valley north of the historic town of Uzès and south of the spectacular Ardèche gorges.
The property is a perfect blend of modern comfort and authentic old-world charm. This magnificent setting offers idyllic lake views and a terrace shaded by centuries-old trees. A small boat is provided for guests to explore the excellent fishing in the lake (including black bass, pike and carp - bring your own fishing gear, but life jackets are provided). All fish must be returned to the lake. The house and grounds are a paradise for birds and wildlife, and an idyllic playground for all generations.
With 8 bedrooms, the house can comfortably accommodate 16 people and is the ideal location for your wedding, event or family vacation. There are 2 kitchens, 4 formal and informal outdoor sitting areas - the dining terrace, the east terrace, the pool and the fire pit - so a large party can comfortably gather together or split up to enjoy some privacy in the group.

Nearby shops and activities:
The nearest village - Vallerargues is charming but small - it's a 10-minute walk from Mas Cabanne to buy your baguettes or daily breakfast. There's also a good upscale restaurant - l'Auberge Gardoise on the traffic circle. The largest village is a 5-minute drive to the north, and is the fortified citadel of Lussan. Here, there are two or three excellent restaurants, a famous pottery that makes ceramic guinea fowl and a lovely walk around the medieval walls offering beautiful views of the countryside in all directions. The nearest town is Uzès, a twenty-minute drive to the south, with its duchy castle, all the stores and restaurants you could wish for, and an excellent open-air market. Uzès is also home to the Haribo candy museum, which attracts small children. Beyond Uzès is the great Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard, which you can explore on foot or inspect from below, if you hire a canoe from the small river town of Remoulins.
Nîmes is a wonderful day out, with its incredible collection of Roman ruins, in particular the Maison Carrée, probably the best-preserved Roman temple in the world, and the Arènes (amphitheatre), still used for shows and concerts. There's a charming rooftop restaurant in Norman Foster's Carré d'Art, overlooking the Maison Carrée and the roof of Nîmes.
To the west of the house are the Cévennes mountains, with their spectacular peaks and chestnut forests, and between these mountains and the house is the Bambouseraie d'Anduze, a magnificent and mysterious bamboo grove and botanical garden. To the north are the Gorges d'Ardèche; there's an outstanding scenic route along the D290 that skirts the rim of the gorge, or you can stop to hire canoes in the town of Vallon Pont d'Arc and explore the canyon from the water.
Extreme sports enthusiasts may want to try paragliding from Mont Bouquet, the nearest peak.
