Rumah Elfi in Lodtunduh is a captivating and inviting guesthouse, open for guests since mid-July 2024, nestled in the village of Lodtunduh, just a short scooter drive from the vibrant cultural hub of Ubud.
This 3-bedroom Joglo blends traditional Balinese charm with modern comforts, creating an idyllic haven for travelers seeking relaxation and cultural immersion.
It will be a very special experience for you to live in a wooden house - and when you sit on the veranda in the morning, you can truly indulge in the serenity of Bali.
The space
Rumah Elfi consists of a two-storey main house with 3 bedrooms, each with air conditioning and ceiling fan and featuring en-suite bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor, separated by the open-plan living room with a dining table and cozy chairs. There are additional comfortable seating areas in front of both bedrooms.
The master bedroom, with its own large veranda, is situated on the second floor. You will enjoy your time on this veranda and be able to see both the sunrise and the sunset.
The large L-shaped swimming pool is located in the beautifully landscaped spacious garden, with a pool deck featuring sun loungers. The pool measures 8x3 meters, with an additional 2x3 meter area for comfortable splashing or sitting, making it a true gem at Rumah Elfi.
A separate small house at the end of the garden houses the kitchen, equipped with all amenities including an oven. While making yourself a coffee or preparing a tasty meal, you can enjoy views of the pool and beautiful garden through two large windows that can be fully opened.
We provide a small welcome pack of coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer to help you until your first purchase at the supermarket.
For those eager to explore the local area, Rumah Elfi is ideally located. The surrounding village of Lodtunduh is renowned for its artistic heritage and tranquil atmosphere, offering visitors a glimpse into traditional Balinese life. Guests can visit nearby art galleries and workshops, participate in cultural ceremonies, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll through the rice paddies and rural landscapes.
Situated alongside the rice fields, it also offers an ideal setting for a leisurely morning walk where you can engage with locals and rice farmers while enjoying picturesque volcano views.
Just a short drive away, the bustling town of Ubud awaits with its array of attractions, including the Ubud Monkey Forest, Ubud Palace, and vibrant Ubud Market, just to name a few. The area is also known for its wellness offerings, with numerous yoga studios, spas, and holistic centers available for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Rumah Elfi is centrally located for all kinds of excursions - Ubud is only about 10 to 15 minutes away by scooter, the east coast (e.g. Sanur) about half an hour, and the west coast (e.g. Seminyak) about 45 minutes, depending on Bali traffic, of course.
Please note, we are located in Lodtunduh, outside Ubud with all its hustle and bustle, so you will definitely need either a scooter or a car.
Guest access
Rumah Elfi has its own lockable entrance. The three rooms can also be locked.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: The regular check-in time is from 2 pm to 10 pm. We also have a safe lock for the key for late arrivals and in case of delays, but we MUST know your approximate arrival time so that we can prepare everything accordingly.

Other things to note
We currently have a construction site opposite Rumah Elfi, but building in Bali is generally not too noisy, as most work is done by hand.
We've lowered Rumah Elfi's price to reflect this, but rest assured, it remains a great place to relax by the pool or use as a base for excursions.
As of the beginning of October 2024, you may only hear a concrete mixer. It’s likely to be finished by the end of the year.

Little offerings for the gods are brought to Rumah Elfi every morning, as is traditional in Bali. Please allow the ladies to enter - it is important for maintaining the very positive atmosphere of the place.

Our pool attendant, Kadek, visits twice a week - it is essential to provide him access to maintain the pool's beauty.

Two friendly cats, Susi and Nelly, live next door and may visit Rumah Elfi. They’re curious and sweet, often stopping by to explore or say hello.
Their playful presence adds charm, but if you'd prefer they stay outside, please keep the doors closed.
They’re harmless and typically return home soon after visiting.

A large parking area for scooters and/or a car is available in front of the house.
